What each price tier buys
£4,800 to £6,600 ex. VAT buys an IPL, SHR or E-light platform. These deliver hair reduction alongside pigmentation and rejuvenation modes, suit Fitzpatrick I–IV in practice, and use consumable lamps rated in shots.
£7,700 to £8,200 ex. VAT buys a quadruple-wavelength diode laser emitting 755nm, 808nm, 940nm and 1064nm. This is the entry point for treating Fitzpatrick V–VI safely, and there is no consumable emitter to replace.
£10,000 to £12,500 ex. VAT buys a multi-technology console combining diode laser with Q-switched Nd:YAG and E-light IPL, with higher sustained duty cycles for back-to-back clinic diaries.
Costs beyond the purchase price
Budget for a dedicated 13A or 16A electrical circuit if the room does not already have one, operator training for every user, laser-safety eyewear matched to the wavelengths, room signage and controlled access, insurance that names the machine, and annual servicing and calibration.
These costs do not scale with the purchase price, so they weigh proportionally heavier on the cheapest machine in the range.
Finance
Lease and hire-purchase agreements over 36 to 60 months are standard in this market. Compare the total repayable and the end-of-term position rather than the monthly payment alone — a low monthly figure with a large balloon payment is a more expensive machine.
